IN THE HOME
This incident took place in the UK but I have heard of similar happening in Arboleas last year.
Last month, a daring burglary took place locally. The house in question is well secured; alarm, window locks, door locks etc. The owner of the house decided to
spend the afternoon working in her front garden leaving the back door unlocked with
her handbag containing credit cards, car keys and cash on the kitchen table next to her
back door. Unfortunately, a sneak thief was about – the handbag disappeared along
with the contents.
Apart from the embarrassment of leaving the door open, the hassle of obtaining new
credit cards etc. is frightening.
Now she has the problem “do I change the locks on
the car or will the thief come back and simply drive my car away?”
We are all guilty of forgetting to shut windows, lock our doors and so on. However,
the consequences of such a minor lapse can be devastating not only in knowing a thief
has been in your home but the time and trouble it creates correcting such a small
lapse.
Please, please, stop for just a second before you do something and think security. A
small lapse can create a major problem.
